Do Something About Insurance Fraud
Officially launched on 30 September 2010, the national Insurance Fraud Hotline (IFH) is the first of its kind in Australia and is designed to give members of the public the chance to take action against insurance fraud by providing a central portal for reporting tip off information, anonymously if they wish, online or by telephone.
One important attribute of the IFH is that the informant is freed from having to know which insurer has carriage of the information. Fully compliant with privacy and data collection laws, the IFH securely gathers and provides the tip-off information to insurance companies Australia-wide. But as an impartial and independent service, the IFH has no ties to any insurance company and does not investigate suspected insurance fraud.
The IFH is the initiative of Anthony Callaghan, former investigations technical specialist with NSW Police and who has now been at the helm of a successful Sydney-based insurance investigations practice, AHC INVESTIGATIONS for 15 years.
Insurance fraud comes at a huge cost to the community - now empowered through the national Insurance Fraud Hotline to act and do something about it. Since its launch, the IFH has received keen interest from the media and from insurance industry professionals.
