Responding to Shannon Carney

Mike Evans made certain comments about Americans in his report and Shannon Carney expressed a view about it. Now a serving NSW police officer has his say.

Well may we say God bless America because if your correspondent Shannon Carney's contradictory and silly ramblings are representative of the American pople, then they're going to need all the blessings they can get.

This is a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black.

The problem with many Americans is that they're totally so totally preoccupied with their righteousness and superiority in this world that they are unable to even consider some of the reasons most of the world (not only Australians) can't stomach them. That crooked duo of George Bush and Dick Cheney have sure done their best to stuff the world's view about America.

I don't know Mike Evans and I wouldn't question his patriotism just because he hasn't hung out the Australian flag on his website, but I know we Australians don't need to make a show of it all. We are “quiet achievers”. Actions is what counts, words don't mean much to us.

Your correspondent is so full of herself and simply keen on abusing someone who dared make a well assessed observation about some American private investigators, that she couldn't help contradicting herself.

She makes a sweeping derogatory statement about Australians and in the same breath sings praise about the many decent Australians she met. I say most Australians are decent people.

Your correspondent knocks Mike Evans about how he tells everyone how great he is, yet she's flat out telling us how great she is.

She talks about her pride displaying her “Stars and Strips” (wasn't it stripes?), but she dares to suggest we are not proud of our flag. As I said, we don't need to make a big show of it like the Americans.

And fancy an American knocking Mike Evans' spelling and grammar! Now, that is funny. I read a lot of forum posts, news sites comments and emails from around the world and the thing that stands out about so many Americans is their poor grammar and crook spelling. Hands up anyone who found otherwise!

I am not a private investigator or security officer, but I am in, what Ms Carney so euphemistically calls “law enforcement”. I am just grateful I can deal occasionally with Australian private investigators and security people and don't have to worry about some of the tough-guy American law enforcement people who shoot first and ask questions later.

By the way, nice site you have here.
